Below is the marching band schedule for the students marching in Washington D.C.:
-January 10th & 11th from 3:30-5pm
-January 15th & 17th from 3:30-5pm
For the students who work, go ahead and ask off for these days in order for preparation for the parade. There are specific items we need to go over and we need everyone to be there. For the students who are in after school activities, I will be notifying the coaches to let them know of this schedule so you can be at parade practice. For the middle school students, we will let you know the first day of school in regards to how you will get to the high school for parade practice. We have a lot to do in a small amount of time. Everyone needs to make arrangements to be at these 4 rehearsals
The Eagle Band Store is live! Check out some of the items we have by clicking the "Eagle Band Merchandise" tab on the website.
Make sure you complete your Secret Service Online information by Monday, January 31st. The majority of the band has already completed it. Once you submit it and the computer thanks you for it, you are good. I will get the updated list on Monday. Remember, only the students information is needed, not the parents.
There will be a parent/student meeting about Washington on January 4th, 2013 at 6:30pm. We will talk about the itinerary, packing list, and other important items. There needs to be a representative for everyone at that meeting.
Based upon the number of students who are going, which is 116, there were only 42 available spots for chaperones. If you are on the list, I need to know immediately if you cannot go so I can fill in the spot. We will have a mandatory chaperone meeting on January 8th at 6:30pm in the CaHS band room. If you have any questions, please contact me at RMurrell@Shelbyed.k12.al.us
Secret service info for students has to be done by 12/31/12. Come to the high school tomorrow from 9-12pm for assistance or email Mr. M.
Orders for Boston Butts/Hams need to be in to Kim Kernop by tomorrow 12/28/12 at 11am. If you have any questions, please contact Kim at (205) 253-5180.
Parents and Students:
If you have not notified me of your child going to Washington D.C., I need to know ASAP. I have to send in the final number of parade participants by December 28th at 11am. Please send me an email stating that they are planning on going. I will email back to you the commitment form that I need as well. Pass this message to anyone and everyone in the band. I am reviewing the detailed itinerary and its going to be a great trip. Once its finalized, which should be by Friday, I will post it. I will also know about chaperones/guests by Saturday at the lastest. Thank you for your patience and keep raising the funds. Remember, if everyone at least attempts to raise the money, then we will all benefit! Have a happy holiday and keep checking the site!
We are smoking whole Boston Butts and whole Hams. Friends of mine, Daniel & Karri, owners of "Where There's Sweets" were VERY excited to hear that we were invited to participate in the Inaugural Parade in Washington DC. Daniel was a tuba player in his GA High Marching Band and his wife, Karri, was in the color guard so marching is dear to their hearts. They were thrilled to donate supplies, wood, injection, time and smokers! He can smoke an enormous amount at one time so the more orders the better. We will pay for the meat, everything else will come from donations. The more we purchase the less we pay per pound, average profit will be $15-$20 per order - so the more you sell the more you profit.
Whole Boston Butts - Cherry & Pecan Wood Smoked with Honey Bacon BBQ injection, $35
Hams (10 lbs average) - Cherry & Pecan Wood Smoked with Honey Praline injection, $35
Spiral Cut Ham (10 lbs average) Cherry & Pecan Wood Smoked NO injection, $35
Turn in orders and money by Friday,12/28 at 10:00 am (I will be at work, Victory Buick GMC in Calera or available to meet anyone, most anytime). Orders will be available for pickup on 12/31, early afternoon and through the evening at Victory, or CHS.
