Calera Middle School Band
Under the direction of Mrs. Brister, the Calera Middle School Band experience will expose interested 6th-8th graders to musical opportunities that will range from personal musician studies, to large public performances. Students will have the opportunities to perform in either the Beginner Band, Concert Band, or Jazz Band.
Ensembles & Programs
CaMS 6th Grade Beginner Band
Students have the opportunity to begin playing their instruments in the sixth grade classes that meets for forty-five minutes per day. During their first year, students work to establish a solid fundamental foundation, develop proper individual practice habits, learn how to operate in the band environment and grow stronger in their music reading and theory abilities. Our goal is to allow students to have fun in a productive and structured atmosphere. 6th grade students will prepare themselves for their future involvement in the Concert Band.
CaMS 7th & 8th Grade Concert Band
Seventh and eighth grade band students will audition for their chair placement in the Concert Band. The Concert Band perform at a number of events throughout the year, including pep rallies, school concerts, and the state Music Performance Assessment. Students will also have the opportunity to audition or participate in solo and ensemble, the Shelby County Honor Band, Chilton County Honor Band, District IV Honor Band, and the Alabama All-State Band.. Students will require some after school rehearsals to prepare for major concerts, and be encouraged to work with directors for more individual practice. 8th grade students will focus on preparing themselves for their future involvement in the Calera Eagle Marching Band and high school ensembles.
